1517-079 (or 1517.079) is a high-efficiency oil-gas separator coalescing filter element designed specifically for industrial refrigeration screw compressors.
Core Functions
During industrial refrigeration or gas compression processes, high-pressure discharge gas carries a large amount of refrigeration lubricating oil. The main function of the 1517-079 filter element is as follows:
1. Efficient Interception: Precisely intercept and coalesce micron-sized oil mist and oil droplets in the discharge gas.
2. Oil-Gas Separation: Allow the refrigeration oil in the gas to aggregate into large oil droplets, which settle back to the oil sump under gravity for recycling, while delivering clean refrigerant gas.
3. Downstream Protection: Prevent refrigeration oil from entering the downstream condenser and evaporator, avoid the reduction of heat exchange efficiency caused by oil carryover, and ensure the efficient and stable operation of the entire refrigeration system.
Product Features
• Multi-layer coagulation structure: The core filter medium adopts imported high-quality borosilicate microfiber glass. Its multi-layer composite structure achieves a filtration accuracy of up to 3 micrometers (μm), ensuring the oil content in exhaust gas is reduced to an extremely low level (≤4 mg/m³).
• Excellent chemical compatibility: Developed for harsh industrial refrigeration environments, it is fully compatible with various refrigerants including R717 (Ammonia), R22, R134a and R404A, as well as various mineral oils and synthetic refrigeration oils (POE, PAG, etc.).
• Robust structural design: Thickened stainless steel / carbon steel perforated mesh skeletons are equipped both inside and outside the filter element, delivering outstanding pressure resistance and anti-collapse performance to prevent damage and deformation under severe working conditions with high pressure and high pressure differential.
• Anti-static and explosion-safe: The filter element adopts a reliable conductive grounding design, which effectively eliminates static electricity generated by high-speed gas friction and guarantees safety for ammonia systems and compression environments of flammable and explosive gases.

Stop the system and release pressure before removal. Confirm flow direction and sealing surfaces before installation.
Maintenance & Replacement
Filter elements are consumables. Service time alone should not be the only consideration; the following two indicators must be taken into account: • Pressure differential (the most scientific basis): Pressure sensors are installed before and after the filter element. When the initial pressure differential (approximately 0.15 bar) rises to the critical replacement pressure differential (0.6 bar / 0.06 MPa), shutdown and replacement must be arranged immediately. Excessively high pressure differential will increase exhaust resistance, cause a sharp rise in energy consumption, and may even lead to collapse of the filter element structure. • Operating time: Under normal conditions, high-quality filter elements have a designed service life of 10,000 to 20,000 hours (or replacement can be performed during the annual overhaul). However, the filter element may become clogged prematurely if the refrigeration oil deteriorates.
